1           Keeney Cabaret Series - Christine Spero Group          7:30pm
The Second of the 2008 series features the Christine Spero Group from New York City, performing songs that tell stories of love against the backdrop of Latin and jazz rhythms. Cabaret setting, Bring your own beverages, set-ups and snacks will be provided. The Cabaret will be held at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main St, Wethersfield, CT 06109. 11  MOTHER'S DAY SPECIAL, Scenic Horse & Carriage Rides
12 - 4:00pm     For ONE DAY ONLY, Tours by Allegra Farm of East Haddam begin at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield. The Tours will run from noon to 4:00pm. $5 per person or $10 per family. Call for more information 860-721-2838.

17     Cove Warehouse & Hurlbut-Dunham House Open:
Both the Warehouse and the Hurlbut-Dunham Home will be open to the public on the Weekends starting May 17th through Mid October. Saturdays from 10:00am - 4:00pm and Sundays form 1:00pm - 4:00pm.  Contact the Wethersfield Historical Society at 860-529-7656.

18    First Church of Christ: Festival of the Music of Roberta Bitgood   6:00pm    Roberta Bitgood (1908-2007) was a nationally renowned Connecticut composer who published more than 70 choral and organ works. This special concert will include, in part, music that was presented here in 1994 under her personal direction, including her cantata "Job." Hear First Church's choirs, soloists, brass, and flute, with David Spicer, organist, in a delightful and inspirational program. A reception follows. Cost: A free-will offering will be received. 24                MEMORIAL DAY PARADE        9:00 am
Join us for the annual Memorial Day Parade as it marches through Historic Wethersfield. The route will begin on State Street from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, down Garden Street, Church Street, Main Street, and Broad Street (Broad St. Green).  The parade will end with its traditional Memorial Ceremony which is held at the Village Cemetery on Marsh Street.  Rain Plans, the parade as well as ceremony will be held at the Wethersfield High School, 411 Wolcott Hill Rd. 9:00am. 


29     Keeney Cabaret Series- Motown Sounds of "Souled Out."      7:30 pm

The third and last in the 2008 series features the Motown sounds of Souled Out. Featuring a three voice vocal section and outstanding musicians, the group will weave its way through familiar Motown and 70s era songs. Cabaret setting. Bring your own beverages, set-ups and snacks will be provided. The event will be held at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main St, Wethersfield, CT 06109. Admission is $20 at the door. 1                 Keane Foundation Annual 5K Run.                11:00 am
The Richard M. Keane Foundation will hold its Annual 5K Run on Sunday, June 3, 2008 at 11:00am in Standish Park in Old Wethersfield.  Bring the entire family!  Sponsored by Stop and Shop Supermarkets, the Certified, Flat-track course begins at Standish Park near the DMV and follows Garden Street taking the runners through beautiful Old Wethersfield, circling the Broad Street Green and back to Standish Park.
Pre-Registration Cost: $10 (Post marked by May 26, 2008);
Race Day Registration Cost: $15 (9:30-10:30 AM); Children 10 and under: $5.

3                     Connecticut Beat Poetry Festival                6:30pm

Join us on Tuesday, June 3, 6:30 p.m., at the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum for “The Spoken Word Series presented by the Connecticut Beat Poetry Festival.”  The theme for this day is the “Beat Goes On.”  Some of the poets that will be presenting this evening are Amelia Matus, Michael Grover, Jason Tandon, Colin Haskins, Anita Pinatti and John Basinger.  This event is free and open to the public.  Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic supper and enjoy the museum grounds before the poetry reading.   The poetry reading will be in the Webb barn.  For more information about the poetry reading please visit www.myspace.com.beatpoetryfestival.  For more information about the museum or to get directions please visit www.webb-deane-stevens.org.

24                  Old Wethersfield 5K Run/ Family Walk

InterCommunity Mental Health Group will hold its 5th Annual 5K Run/Walk through beautiful Old Wethersfield. Sponsored by TD Banknorth, this event which is for runners/walkers of all ages and abilities, is produce by the Hartford Marathon Foundation to benefit InterCommunity.  Pre-Registration fee is $20 for adults and $15 for 18 and under. On or after August 17 the fees will be $25 for adults and $20 for 18 and under.
